Movie - Wishmaster

This is a series that I was not aware was one of those classic movie monsters until recently. The entire series (four movies) is available on Netflix on this time though I enjoyed them all so much that I picked up hard copies at the store as well. The first Wishmaster shows the background of the Djinn and how his kind were summoned and almost took over way in the past. The Djinn is then trapped in a gem where he cannot harm anyone further. Back in the present times, a drunken worker drops a priceless statue and kills another worker on accident. In the rubble, a worker steals a gem and sells it to a pawn broker. The pawn broken then sells the gem to a company where we meet our main protagonist who is a woman. She has the gem analyzed by her best friend and ultimately causes his death due to an explosion which frees the Djinn. This is where the movie really starts to get moving as the Djinn starts the fulfillment of the prophecy by collecting souls of wish makers. The whole plot of the movie is that the Djinn needs to collect souls and force the person who released him originally to make three wishes and release his kind into the world. I think my favorite part of the movie was the way that he granted the wishes. Each wish that was granted was turned into evil which was pretty interesting to see. The movie shows appearances of Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) and Tony Todd (Candyman) which I thought was kind of cool seeing both of them in a movie together. I am giving this movie a five because it was great. By the way, the dialogue in this movie is just so great.
